pj 1Peejay Catacutan is a "friend" of mine. I say "friend" because we have never met face to face, but have chatted with him over the last few years via Facebook. A couple of years ago Peejay put up a project he was working on called Xenoglyphs. At that time we had talked about doing something for the site to profile him, but as these things go it didn't materialize. Again about a year ago I saw some of his work on Deviant Art and we had a discussion, but again nothing. This time I saw some cards he did for a Marvel series and nothing in the world would keep this from happening. Peejay is humble, a true professional, insightful,  has a drive that is incomparable and has the goods to be the next BIG creator. Get to know him now because you will be hearing a lot from him later! Read more...

X-Men-Days-Of-Future-Past-2014-Movie-WideAfter six X-Men related movies in the books and the seventh a month away, we’ve been lucky to see pretty much EVERY major X-Men character adapted for the big screen at this point. But keep in mind that there are basically THOUSANDS of mutants in the Marvel Universe, so there are plenty of great characters yet to be used for live-action! So, who’s left? Doop? Maggot? What about Goldball, that guy who’s got the mutant power balls? Somehow I don’t think we’ll see any of those guys anytime soon. Doop is basically Slimer from Ghostbusters, right? Well, here’s a list of the BEST X-Men characters we have yet to see. There’s more than you think! And for fun, I'll try and cast the characters too! I'm doing all the work for you, Hollywood! You're welcome. Read more...

WARNING! If you haven’t yet seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier (GEEZ, what are you waiting for?!), you may wanna get off your butt and go see it before reading this article, because it’s full of spoilers!!! Tons of them! A lot of freakin’ spoilers! And you must be really confused with all the “Hail Hydra” memes everywhere. Go see the hottest movie on the planet already, ya procrastislacker!   captain_america_2So, what do ya know? Marvel has done it again! Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a hit among comic book and movie enthusiasts everywhere! The movie has a bit of a darker tone than a lot of the recent Marvel films and for me is a throwback to how we felt with the very first Iron Man movie. It’s just what a Captain America movie should be, intrigue, action and good ‘ol “cloak and dagger s#!t” (and I don’t mean the super-couple!). And it really does change the whole scope of the Marvel movies, at least for the time being! I’ve said it to friends, and now I’ll officially say it in prose: “Captain America: Winter Soldier is Marvel’s Dark Knight.” In fact, it’s possibly even better than that film! Read more...

admin-ajax.phpWe are actually half way through March, but the numbers came out late so I'm just now getting to this column. When I first pulled up the stats I was thinking WOW this doesn't look so good, I mean when you see the comparisons you 're going to say WOW, this doesn't look so good. Then I looked back over the last 4 years of this column (one year at a different site) and found out February has been a historically bad month for comic books. I know it's hard to believe, but comics in February and then again in June take a nose dive every year. So with that put away, I started looking at what is what with DC, and that remains a NOT good thing. You will see in the Big 2 part of the column that DC is making little to no head way against Marvel and in one key category has fallen a little bit more. It can't be all bad is what I was thinking going into the Indie, and here I was finally pleasantly surprised. When you get to the Indies portion you will see what I mean. So with all that gibberish out of the way, lets get started. Read more...

avengers-endless-wartimeHey, Bleeder Nation! Y’know what I noticed? Besides the fact that there’s not enough sound FX in comics these days?! You can’t beat a good “BLAM” or “SHRAKT”, am I right, people? Well, another thing I noticed is that I haven’t wrote a review in quite a while! What kind of columnist am I if I don’t share my coveted and important opinion on something you are either going to read or not read anyway? So! Now that “The Big M”, Marvel is now putting out original graphic novels (or OGNs, if you’re cool), I figured why not read ‘em and review ‘em? The first one is Avengers: Endless Wartime, a yarn put together by the ever so talented scribe, Warren Ellis and it stars the most popular superhero team these days going up against the military industrial complex as well as their own demons from the past! Or...for the Avengers, just a regular Tuesday. Read more...
