So, it all but looks like the Marvel Universe will be getting the do-over treatment once their mega-event Secret Wars comes to its conclusion. Which could be called a bit redundant, since DC Comics did it not even 5 years ago. But I personally always choose to look at the situation “glass half full”, and absolutely refuse to see ONLY the bad effects from flushing away decades of continuity in one fell swoop (actually, I already did that in another column months ago). After all, it’s now happening no matter what. I might as well look forward to the ushering in of a whole new age of Marvel comics! More importantly, a whole new era for creators who may have never even gotten the chance to work on certain titles a chance to start from scratch and rebuild these heroes from the ground up. It has been a little while since Marvel put out one of their Original Graphic Novels with the last one being Thanos: Infinity Revelation. But finally, we have another one and it is the second Avengers OGN to be released, this time it is to coincide with the release of the Avengers: Age of Ultron! Before the blockbuster movie is released, we are treated to RAGE of Ultron, which has Earth’s Mightiest Heroes facing off once again with one of their deadliest antagonists, the genocidal automaton known as ULTRON! Ultron is probably one of my favorite Marvel villains, and Rick Remender is one of my favorite writers right now, so I was looking forward to seeing his take on such a complex villain. Read more...

ladies-600x420Happy International Women's Day everyone! I have to say, I love recognizing this important day every year because, well, women are awesome! And the strongest people that I value the most in my life...happen to be women! And that needs to be celebrated, not just on IWD, but EVERY day. So, like last year, I will do one of my lovely lists and this time, truly focus on GIRL POWER. Scary, extinction-level girl power! Today, I will count down the most powerful female heroes in comics. And to narrow it down and not just put up a bunch of cosmic-powered characters from the 90's nobody has ever heard of...I'm focusing on HEROINES ONLY. And let's be honest here, I know that I can't possibly put this list in an order that everyone is going to agree with, so keep the complaints to a minimum and let's celebrate ALL of these awesome, empowering characters! So keep it down, trolls! Especially you, Pip! Read more...
