Oh yeah! It’s that time of year once again! Wrestlemania season! That time of the year when almost everyone (or at least more people that you think) get together and watch the 4 hour extravaganza involving big muscley men and women (and sometimes a zombie or a leprechaun or a voodoo priest) wearing outlandish tight outfits and getting in the ring in front of thousands of people for a fight that’s not really a fight...but still very treacherous nonetheless. Days ago, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. launched the first-ever television series to feature the famous comic book superheroine Kara Zor-El in the sole protagonal role. Yes, I am talking the new hit American live-action television series Supergirl, and apparently, although it only just premiered, it somehow flying strong in mainstream status within the North American continent, and I am happy to say it is nice to see a female super-heroine from DC Universe lore other than Wonder Woman has the power to triumph in maintaining a huge audience with her own solo non-comic book series, even after the commercial failures of both the Supergirl movie and the infamous Catwoman movie. It was ComicCon time in my hometown of Montreal once again and it was the biggest event ever! More than 50,000 fans came out to let their geek flag fly and it was once again an exciting show! Much more space, more vendors a bigger Artists Alley and an awesome atmosphere that for the first time I saw many celebs like John Barrowman (Malcolm Merlyn from Arrow), Michael Rooker (of Guardians of the Galaxy and Walking Dead) and more walking the con floor and taking in the show (I myself had some fun moments with the celebs, more on that later). I of course had my adventures taking pics of the thousands of fun cosplays this year and yet again, it's time for my Annual Cosplay Parade!  Read more...

We all like to dream of our ultimate superhero mashup like a Captain America shield wielding Batman or a vampiric Spider-Man in a Vampirella mankini...okay, that last one was pretty twisted, but you get the idea. Few of us actually have the skill or ability to design something like that. But graphic artist Damien Devaux actually can! And when Damien decided to enter the Comiccon Challenge for the Gameartisans website. This online contest encourages artists from all over the world to come up with creative mashups of their favorite heroes. Damien decided to put together a clever amalgamation of two of Marvel’s most popular heroes, Deadpool and The Hulk. Enter “Deadpulk”, the green-skinned merc/monster with a mouth! Read more...

OK, the columnists at ENR would be a bunch of liars if none us admitted that there was only one game we’re excited about this year… Mortal Kombat X. You thought I was going to say Arkham Knight, didn’t you? As much as we’re hyped up for Batman, nothing makes our news desks hum with anticipation more than the promise of Dave Michaels and I being able to rip out each other’s spleen, break our journalistic jaws and spear each other with rusty, metal chains while shouting “GET OVER HERE!” And believe us; C-Man likes nothing more than to see his news team happy… The last month has brought us many, many reveals for Mortal Kombat X. So far, this game readily boasts one of the largest playable casts of any beat ‘em-up ever made as well as a triad of fighting styles for each character which effectively trebles the already impressive array of options and play-styles already available. spawnffA Spawn reboot film has been discussed and rumored for many years, and fans of Todd McFarlane's demonic anti-hero have been clamoring to see him return to the silver screen. Well, now we have an ambitious fan film to let us know just how awesome Spawn would look with today's CG effects! In The Recall, a mother loses her son in a supermarket, which happens every day, right? Well, this time is a little different, as an evil force tries to take the boy's soul while he is unprotected. Until of course, a certain Hellspawn named Al shows up to save the day! Directed by Michael Paris, The Recall is a captivating short film, and one of the most visually stunning CGI we've ever seen in a comic book fan film! Read more...

Ottawa-Comiccon-SliderHey Bleeder Nation! Your king is still having a bit of a "con hangover", a result of an awesome weekend at the nation's capital (well, MY nation's capital, at least), Ottawa ComicCon! It was another great experience, hanging out with creators, cosplayers, and fans of comics, video games and pop culture of all ages! Nothing makes me happier than going to a con, and this one was one of the craziest! In fact, the numbers are in. 38,000 comic loving fans attended the event! Congrats to the organizers for putting the con together and making it a success! Oh, did I mention the interviews?! I got interviews! 4 amazing ones, to be exact! So be sure to keep a look out for those! You won't be disappointed! And as always I took pictures. Tons of pictures of the coolest cosplayers I ran into throughout the weekend. Once again Ottawaians (not sure if that's what they call themselves, but let's go with it) came out in full force and got their geek on! Read more...
