Oh yeah! It’s that time of year once again! Wrestlemania season! That time of the year when almost everyone (or at least more people that you think) get together and watch the 4 hour extravaganza involving big muscley men and women (and sometimes a zombie or a leprechaun or a voodoo priest) wearing outlandish tight outfits and getting in the ring in front of thousands of people for a fight that’s not really a fight...but still very treacherous nonetheless. Well, I guess by now the cat’s out of the bag! We are definitely getting a sequel to the hottest superhero movie so far of 2016, Deadpool! And not only that, in the end-credits scene Deadpool himself informs us that his cyborg from the future BFF Cable will appear in the sequel! If that didn’t make us all “squee”, nothing will! Now everyone knows I’m a pretty avid wrestling fan, maybe not as much of a comic book enthusiast, but both genres are pretty close to my heart. I’ve made many comparisons that they aren’t really as different as people think they are. There’s daring heroes, and evil villains, intriguing and sometimes unbelievable stories and mythologies...tights. There’s a lot of tights in both comics and wrestling. So every so often, usually right before a big WWE wrestling event, I enjoy writing an edition of FPB devoted to the squared circle! I figured since Survivor Series is here (for those who don’t know, it’s one of WWE’s oldest events that 5-on-5 elimination style tag matches), it would be a fine time to do just that! Read more...

We at ENR are sad to report the sudden passing of WWE Hall of Famer "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (Rodrick George Toombs) at the age of 61. Piper is considered one of the most legendary and iconic wrestlers of all time, and a staple in 1980's pop culture. Despite never being WWE World Champion, Piper is a notable Intercontinental Champion, Tag Team Champion and WCW World Champion. Piper is probably best known for his wrestling "bad guy" (or Heel) persona through most of the 1980's and berating his interviewees in his Piper's Pit interview segments and his famous rivalries with Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, Hulk Hogan, Goldust and even celebrities like Mr. T and Cyndi Lauper. Many WWE superstars today model much of their personas after "Hot Rod". Read more...

It’s that time of year again, it’s the show of shows! The granddaddy of them all! Wrestlemania! And like every year, I have a special column dedicated to the biggest sports entertainment spectacle of the year! This year I wanted to do something a bit different and fun, and count down my personal all-time dream matches for Wrestlemania. Some of these may happen, some are highly unlikely and some are literally impossible, but we can all dream, can’t we?! And after all “anything can happen in the WWE!” This was a really difficult task to weed these down to 5, but these are the grapplers that I personally wish could meet and steal the show. Enjoy! 537ba61b764b4So,we all know what pretty much EVERY other comic book/pop culture website and blogger thinks should be cast as Captain Marvel in Marvel Studios' first female led superhero film. Yeah, you've heard them all... Katee Sackoff, Emily Blunt....and let's face it, pretty much everybody and their grandmother's cat wants it to be Natalie Dormer (who as Margaery Tyrell uses that sly smile of hers to, um, how do I put it...CHARM the underage new king in Game of Thrones), and while all of those are pretty great choices...are they really the only ones?! I mean, let's face it. This is a very important movie. Probably even more important than the first Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy was, because female superhero movies have not done well in the past. Captain_Marvel_Vol_7_1_Granov_Variant_TextlessLet's face it...they have absolutely sucked! Catwoman, Supergirl, Elektra....yeah. Not a very good track record. And let's face it. We knew superheroes and space adventures could draw audiences if done right. We have nothing but proof that female superhero movies don't! This is Marvel's biggest challenge ever. And while the film is slated for 2018, the internet has just gone insane with fan-casting of Carol Danvers. And with good reason, Carol's a great character with a rich comic book history. So,since I've done this previously with a few of DC's heroes like Wonder Woman, Batman and most recently DC's former Captain Marvel, Shazam....let's try my first Marvel casting column...with a twist! Let's cast OTHER Carols! Possible casting choices that have been lost in the Sackoff/Dormer hullabaloo. For this column, since I like to rate each choice, I will be rating each actress by her "Carol Calibre" from 1 to 5. Read more...

3802601-2447916540-35805Do you smell what Black Adam is cookin’? Among all of the crazy news this week what with the passing of yet another legend of comedy (R.I.P. Joan Rivers), nearly every young female celebrity’s naughty pictures getting leaked onto the internet and Cee-Lo Green making us want to delete all of our Gnarls Barkley records, some of you may have missed the bit of GREAT news that broke. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Warner Bros. finally confirmed that the big role that he has landed for a big DC Comics film was indeed Black Adam in a (also confirmed) Shazam live action feature film! This is something the fans have wanted for quite some time, seeing as Black Adam is quite a cult favorite and is a perfect role for the "People’s Champ". Adam is a former Egyptian pharaoh and has disdain for all he encounters. He believes he is better than everyone and isn’t shy about saying it or showing it. Read more...

Nathan5Nathan Fillion is Nova!!! Wait...wait. The director, James Gunn, just tweeted. He’s not. Wait! Wait! He’s in a cameo! WE’LL TAKE IT! This has been the emotional roller coaster that we geeks have been going through in the last 48 hours. Finally, it had seemed that our darling Firefly/Serenity/Castle star had finally joined the Marvel family, and was all taken from us. And now, there’s a glimmer of hope. Nate may not be Richard Rider, but he will be SOMEONE, and you’re not going to give him a meaningless role. Heck, even Gary Shandling’s tiny role as Senator Stern has become memorable and spawned an internet sensation (see Captain America: Winter Soldier AND like, the internet). Read more...
