Back in 2012 I did a column that I always consider as one of my all-time favorites. And it was called “Heroes of the Ring”. This column correlates two mediums I enjoy that are very different but the same in many ways: comic books and pro wrestling. The goal of the column was simple, show that the “faces and heels” from WWE lore are not that far apart from the “heroes and villains” in superhero comics. The good guys were larger-than-life and the baddies were just as detestable. Well, the column did so well that I have wanted to do a part 2 with some of the more modern grapplers in WWE. Read more...

It was 2012. ENR was but a fledgling pop culture news page...and Full Page Bleed had just begun as a young, fresh faced Bleeder King was doing his best to entertain his growing legions of readers (in my mind). I had decided that there was a growing fascination for celebrities on the rise and for some reason I thought it would be a hoot to poke fun at that. I decided to take a few celebrities that I felt were the wackiest and nonsensically famous at the time and compare them to famous supervillains, like Mel Gibson, Madonna and the Octo-Mom. Well, we’re just a few weeks away from probably one of the most anticipated superhero films ever. Finally, after GENERATIONS of comic book fans waiting for it to happen, the two most popular comic book characters in history will finally meet head-to-head in a film. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will be when it will happen and, as the title entails, our heroes (played by Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck respectively) will first collide, and then inevitably join forces and form the Justice League (SPOILER ALERT). And oh yes, there is a third character in the mix, the Amazonian warrior princess, Wonder Woman (played by Gal Gadot), not to mention Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) no doubt manipulating the whole confrontation behind the scenes and releasing the destructive Doomsday on the world! Will there be more? You betcha! Most of the future JL members are rumoured to have cameos, including Aquaman (Jason Mamoa) and Vic Stone/Cyborg (Ray Fisher). This movie is jam-packed! Read more...

Wrapping up last week’s walkthroughs of the DCTVU that I am privileged to be your guide for, is Arrow and the thirteenth episode of this series is much like the thirteenth episode of Supergirl and of The Flash, it is the setup to a new story arc by the resolutions of loose ends. We have seen why this show is the template for the others and how the new lighter tone for Arrow really works as long as it seems a struggle. Read more...

A few days ago, Warner Bros and DC Entertainment launched a new television series (or television miniseries, depending on how long it will last) set in the universe of the hit DC Universe character-based television series Arrow. Yes, I am referring to Legends of Tomorrow, which centers around a band of heroes and villains from the Arrowverse. I have not yet watched the premier episode, but apparently, this is Warner's first attempt in producing a live-action DC hero show about a team of over 3 people since the failed Justice League of America pilot that got filmed back in the 1990s but was never officially released. Yesterday we discussed the first episode in the second annual Flash/Arrow crossover event. We touched on the launching of a new show Legends of Tomorrow featuring the characters Vandal Savage, Hawkgirl and Hawkman – who debuted in the crossover episode named Legends of Today. That episode was a superhero team-up throw down show of historical proportions and we left a lot of the deeper explorations of theme and device on the side to celebrate this great event. Read more...

When that familiar music hits and the well dressed, suave man walks across the screen, draws his gun and shoots at the know what you’re in for! It’s James Bond, and for decades he’s been a staple of pop culture! After 26 films and 7 actors portraying the character, Bond is a franchise like no other, with legions of fans worldwide.
