sob7If I’m completely honest with myself, I think DC made a miss step with Justice League: War. While there were elements that I enjoyed (namely Shazam and the interactions between Green Lantern and Batman) mostly the movie felt a little too dark and grim. I was left feeling a little flat but hopefully that this was merely a stumble along the road of above average films. Hot on the heels of JL: War comes the next DC animated movie, Son of Batman. Based upon Grant Morrison and Andy Kubert’s Batman and Son saga, this latest installment in line follows the events that unfold when Batman discovers  that he has a ten year old son with Talia al Ghul (Morena Baccarin). Returning to the cowl is Jason O’Mara who sets the Dark Knight on one of his greatest challenges yet; to change the mindset of a small boy who has known nothing but violence and the ways of the League of Assassins. Damian Wayne (voiced by Stuart Allen) is a prodigy. He’s strong, wilful and incredibly skilled in combat but for all the expertise he has as a warrior he lacks in innocence. The heir to Ra’s al Ghul’s (Giancarlo Esposito) throne is given into the care of his father following his grandfather’s murder at the hands of Deathstroke (Thomas Gibson) as the mercenary become s all-encompassing threat in Talia’s life. Do we really need the Joker? An Arkham Knight Supplemental   Ark origins Joker   As a comic book fan and a gamer, it’s hard not be excited when news of a new chapter in any superhero franchise is due for release. The Arkham games from Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. Montreal set the bar high (although some consider Arkham Origins the weakest of the three, it is by no means a bad game) and made video game reviewers sit up and take note. Read more...

rob ark 1Following the Game Informer announcement, Rocksteady Studios have released the first teaser trailer for the next entry in their Batman series of games, Batman: Arkham Knight, which is due for release later this year. Many will remember last year’s effort, Arkham Origins, which acted a prequel to the series. This game saw a younger Batman (only two years into his crusade) encounter many of his rogue’s gallery for the first time; Black Mask, Bane, Killer Croc, Deathstroke and The Joker. This game was handled by Warner Bros. Montreal and, while by no means a bad game, in terms of playability seemed the weaker of the trilogy (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City preceded this release). The story, in my opinion, was the strongest and allowed for an interesting take on The Joker which made him particularly sinister in a way not since the stellar performance of Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight.   Read more...

sob2Damian Wayne's story sort of still could be finished in the comics (yet he still has a comic series taking place in the future...don't ask!), but now we can relive his journey going from ninja brat to Robin in DC Entertainment's latest animated feature: Son of Batman! Seems all of the baddies from the comic series will make an appearance, including  Ra's Al Ghul (voiced by Giancarlo Esposito), his deceptively seductive daughter, Talia (Morena Baccarin), and a horde of bloodthirsty Man-Bat ninjas! But for an added twist, we are treated to Deathstroke (Thomas Gibson) being thrown into the mix! Oh yeah, and the "dead-bat" dad himself will be voiced by Jason O' Mara (resuming his role from Justice League: War), ICarly and Rise of the Guardians child actor, Stuart Allan, will be voicing Damian.
