I’ve been wanting to do this column for weeks now, and in that amount of time some interesting developments have happened to the solo Batman movie in development starring Ben Affleck. Affleck first dropped out of being the director of the film allegedly because he didn’t think he could handle starring AND directing...which sounds pretty simple. Then Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves was apparently being courted for the job, then some rumors of Affleck being (ALREADY?) tired of being The Bat sprouted around the internet....and now apparently the Reeves thing has fallen apart. The movie could very well be in limbo at this point. Read more...

While Disney may have seemed to have conquered the box office so far this year, there can be little doubt DC/WB owns the family home video market. With Justice League vs. Teen Titans already released and Killing Joke on the way, there is a current reason to rejoice.  I break it down spoiler free below. I borrowed the synopsis from iMDB, so if you need total spoiler freedom, don’t read it. Read more...

Well, fellow comic fans...you have failed everyone. Marvel surely hasn’t. Even Nick Spencer hasn’t. But some fans, who likely have not even physically bought a comic book in a decade, have actually ruined everything. A plot twist is just that...a plot twist. It’s fiction, it’s meant to shock, bring out strong feelings in the audience and make their jaws drop, feel dread and try to make them think “well, I need to see what happens next!” But now we have the internet, where everyone that has two fingers to type with has a faceless voice. And some of those people misuse their voice and use it to be totally moronic. Read more...

For the third time this week it is my pleasure to walk with you through the episode greatness that is the DCTVU – the DC Comics Television Universe – and the 35th episode this season I have done this with. Along the way we have discovered and remarked repeatedly on The Arrow Template that was used to build Gotham, The Flash, Supergirl, Lucifer, iZombie and the cancelled Constantine (which I still can’t let go). This template tweaked slightly for each show enables each to have its own voice yet feel a part of what they are creating. Read more...

Welcome back to the weekly Arrow review, as we walk through the season together episode by episode. In the sixth episode of this – the fourth season – it seems Arrow has finally caught up to itself. What I mean by this is that after three seasons (two of which we weren’t sure if we were watching Batman or Green Arrow) and six episodes of a fourth the loose ends have wrapped, the characterization is complete and the team is defined and each member has a role and a function that is fully understood. Okay, this one is going to be tough. Because...basically, EVERYONE is pretty good at martial arts in comic books, right? I mean, she’s been holding back, but I’m pretty sure even Aunt May can bust out some wicked crane kicks if she needed to! So, let’s get this straight...EVERYONE’S opinion will be different when it comes to who is the best martial artist in mainstream comics. It’s really all relative. Nobody’s right and nobody’s wrong here. So, what I’m saying is, if you disagree, I’m sorry and not all that sorry...this is my opinion, and everyone’s allowed to have one! Read more...

A few weeks ago, we have witnessed on Arrow, a tragic event where Oliver Queen's sidekick Roy Harper ended up being sent to jail after lying to the police about him being the Arrow in an effort to spare Oliver from suffering and take opportunity to recover from his unintended act of murder back in the time of the Deathstroke war. Fortunately, Roy's death was faked so that he could be out of jail, only for him to leave his friends at Team Arrow. Then Ra's Al Ghul made his next move to get Oliver to give in to his demand for him to take over as head of the League of Assassins: assassinate his half-sister Thea Queen. Anyway, it has been a couple of weeks since ENR presented to you anything regarding what happened since Roy Harper's departure episode. As a first, I present to you, an Arrow episode double-bill feature as we are nearing the end of season, which makes sense as the episodes shared together a premise. This time, we are looking at "The Fallen" and "Al Sa-Him". Read more...
