It was a cold winter day when we had decided to play hide-n-seek in the house. I hid in a dark closet in the attic. That's where I found my first comic book. I have never returned from that dark closet in the attic. They have tried to drag me back into the light. But they cannot. I will forever be on the DarXide.

Most Trade Paperbacks (TPBs) don't hold a special place in the hearts of comic book collectors. They're stories collected in book format which means they're reprints. If you're not into collecting and just in it for the story then a TPB is one of the greatest things to ever happen to comic books. You don't have to go searching for old copies to complete the story. TPBs are great for learning about new characters or to get reacquainted with some of your old favourites. The TPBs do have a few drawbacks. Some of the charm of comic books are the letters to the editor, extra stories at the end which are usually a two or three page story for an upcoming book, and in the old comics you got those great advertisements. You won't get variant covers or fancy holograms either. Read more...
For a lot of people picking up a book from a new author, or just new to the reader, can be intimidating. It can be like going on a blind date. What will they talk about? What will they look like, what if we have nothing in common? Lucky for readers books are better than blind dates. You can take your time to get to know them slowly, if needed, or dive right in and get to know everything about them in hopes of a second date. Either way taking a chance on a new book is far less painless and you don't even need to comb your hair if you don't want. Read more...
When you hear, Jail Bait and Trailer Trash, you might be thinking that your sister's boyfriend finally wrote his family's memoires, but it's actually something much better than that. Jail Bait and Trailer Trash is a collection of short stories in graphic novel format, written by Justin Gray. Read more...
People have always been curious about what happens after death. Since ancient times there have been stories about what happens to you when you die. Pharaohs were buried with their treasures because people thought they would need them in the afterlife. In Greek mythology Charon ferries the souls of the recently deceased across the river Styx to the Underworld. There are many ideas about what happens to you when you pass away. Very few people have ever crossed over and came back to tell us what actually happens. It's a great mystery, one which gives infinite possibilities for story telling. Read more...
Welcome to the midseason finale. Midseason finales are horrible and there probably isn't a person alive who prefers for a show to start and stop like this. Could you imagine if a sport did this? Seriously, if baseball started in April and went for a month then they took the month of May off and came back in June. Who would even be interested in what's happening? In most cases mid-season finales could be told to go kick rocks but this one kind feels nice. We need a short break from the crazy in Gotham and there is a lot of it in this episode. Read more...

Gotham Review: Villain Vs Villain

Tuesday, 22 November 2016 16:41
Since the beginning of time we've had tales of good versus evil. These stories always seem to work. You choose a side to cheer for and see how it unfolds. Usually the good prevails and sometimes evil wins, ensuring that another good guy will come along to try and save the day. The story of good vs. evil brings us all of the elements we need to keep us entertained. Hope, anger, fear, love and all of those other adjectives that one would use to describe it. So how do you describe it when it's evil versus evil or good versus good? Is it possible to have a good guy against a good guy or bad against bad? Wouldn't one of them have to assume the other role? This week's episode of Gotham brings forth this very question. Let's see if it gave us any answers. Read more...

Gotham Review - The Executioner's Song

Tuesday, 15 November 2016 13:50
In the last episode, we saw Barnes murder at least two men. Alice Tetch’s blood has turned him into some crazed vigilante. When he “switches” he becomes judge, jury and executioner. He’s on a mission to find all of the guilty in Gotham. Unfortunately, Dr. Simon didn’t die before he could tell newly reinstated GCPD officer, Jim Gordon, that Barnes was responsible for throwing him through a wall. Read more...
