DAMM is the proud father of two beautiful daughters. As one of ENR's founders and passionate comics' lover, he is committed to bringing you fair but passionate reviews as well as breaking news without the overreaction. A Colorado born curmudgeon, comic purist and pop culture crusader, he's on a mission to make new readers aware of the legends who came before in an in-depth way, how they changed comics and why the Silver Age is the most important era to modern American art (comic, commercial & fine). His opinionated style and audacious boldness making him a must read. As a reviewer, opinion columnist and con reporter his objective is the acquisition of truth, justice and the American comic book way, though he's been known to pursue foreign comics voraciously too. A champion for the creator-owned, a proponent for Indies and intolerant of towing corporate lines DAMM brings praise to those who deserve it and lays out the bad news without pretention.

Legends Of Tomorrow Review - Time Janitors

Friday, 11 November 2016 14:55
Welcome back to the weekly episodic breakdown of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on ENR. Last week the entire perspective on this show changed and the DCTVU is never going to look the same. This week the team travels to 1987, visits their younger selves and learns in detail about the tides of change and how it applies to our time travel heroes…er legends. Read more...
With episode 4 of Legends of Tomorrow the stride has finally been hit Though for this viewer it was more a sudden understanding of what the CW was trying to accomplish that chaged my perspective of the show dramatically. If you have read my reviews of the first three episodes you know I have been both critical and praising of the show but this episode changes everything. And by changes I mean the name of the game. Supergirl Review - The Safest Bet

Welcome back to the weekly exploration of Supergirl on the CW right here on eXpertComics.com. This week we examine episode 4 of season 2 entitled Survivors. When we last left these pages Ms. Martian, Maggie Sawyer and Mon-El had just debuted and everyone was settling into their newly changed lives. We examined the overall theme, the specific implications and the action-packed throwdowns. Last week’s episode was a gem but we can’t live in the past. Read more...
To make a show primarily focused on time travel is a difficult thing when you rely on the headiness of the plot to anchor the viewer rather than the emotional bonds of less intricately plotted shows. One of the easiest ways to do this however involves making the time periods relevant and interesting enough to tell more self-contained stories within the larger. But with Legends, as we have discussed, there is a serious piece missing from the series, even more than last season’s freshman run. You see, the best parts of the CW superhero lineup on the other nights of the week is the deep thematic approach that is not taken here and those themes tend to make us emotionally connected to them. Supergirl Review - When Spots Become Stripes

Tuesday, 25 October 2016 23:12
It has been a glorious start to the second season of Supergirl. With the big bang two-part premiere over and Superman back to Metropolis, it is time to lay the flesh on the skeleton created the previous two weeks. While episode 3 is still clearly setting up the new season it is here, more than the premiere the real seeds for what is to come are sown. Last week, we established the overall theme of this season to be change and the consequences of gaining your own voice and we said goodbye to Cat Grant. This week we delve into a plethora of Easter Eggs, new characters - beloved and well-known - as well as explore the themes and content of Welcome To Earth. Read more...
For the first time, it is my honor to walk you through DC’s Legends of Tomorrow each week like I did for Flash, Arrow and Supergirl last season. However, as I watched the two-part season premiere for examination and exploration here I was immediately struck by how different this series is structurally from the rest of the Arrowverse.   Read more...

Supergirl Review - Setting The Stage

Wednesday, 19 October 2016 14:39
Welcome back to our weekly journey through the television episodic goodness that is Supergirl which airs on Monday nights. In the offseason Supergirl changed networks, leaving CBS and joining the Arrow-verse on the network’s sister station, CW. Changes often bring turmoil to a series and this season they have added Superman to the premieres further risking the Kara character to receding back into the shadow of her cousin. After watching the first two episodes (the said two-part premiere) I was both thrilled and horrified, warmed with joy and overcome with sadness. This alone would me Supergirl a great viewing experience, but the golden lining of this series isn’t in what they give you up front but their strict adherence to thematic device. Read more...
